Job Description:
The Hershel "Woody" Williams Veterans Affairs Medical Center in
Huntington, W. Va. is a fully accredited 80-bed acute medical and
surgical care facility that provides primary care and specialty
health services, including radiology, mental health services,
women's health care, prosthetics, bariatric surgery, pain
management, palliative care, sleep medicine and more. We are
recruiting for an Family Medicine physician to be part of our
full-time primary care physician team in our Charleston, WV
outpatient clinic. This physician will float between the Charleston
CBOC and the Gallapolis, OH CBOC. Physician will be based in the
Charleston, WV outpatient clinic and will have to travel to
Gallapolis, OH outpatient clinic as needed (Usually 1-2 times a
month). The Huntington VA Medical Center has been designated the

Compensation: Excellent guaranteed base salary ($280,000) + annual
performance bonus (Up to $15,000 per year) + annual salary
increases Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): A sign-on bonus of
$30,000 may be authorized for highly qualified applicants. Work
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm - Note: No evening
call or weekend call Physician Duties include, but are not limited
to:
- Average Daily patient census: 11 - 13 patients per day
- Routine history/physical exams
- Provide diagnosis
- Conduct preliminary electrocardiogram interpretation
- Conduct preliminary routine chest, bone and soft tissue x-ray
interpretation
- Perform simple suture removal in uncomplicated cases
- Provide provision of treatment including consultation for
patients to treat general medical problems
- Be able to perform, in emergency situations, all procedures
necessary to stabilize a patient until definitive therapy can be
initiated by appropriately trained practitioners. Benefits:

applicants. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan
Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt
Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement
program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements
in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application
within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to
$200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined
by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after
completing review of the EDRP application. Paid Time Off: 50-55
days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of
sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day
paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5
years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by
VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care
(many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or
territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be
full-time with board certification) and 5 paid CME days.
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant
restrictions on moonlighting Preferred Experience:
- The applicant must have successful completion of a (3) year
residency program in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
